A collective of brilliant brains, dedicated to solving Founder's Block.

Our Extra 'Brains' are collaborative, ego-free, and founder-focused. We share knowledge generously and thrive on helping founders make progress.

Carefully curated,
mindfully matched.

'Network of consultants', blah, blah, blah. You've heard it before right? A page of a 100 biogs and photos that it's impossible to navigate when you just need some help.

That's not us. Phew.

We grow slowly. This helps us build relationships between Brains, and maintain existing ones. Unlike single-skill networks, our Brains combine and collaborate, rather than compete.

Our collective expands when it needs new skills and our membership model means our Brains are actively engaged.

Principles

Shared values & decisions

This isn’t a co-operative, but it’s inspired by the movement.

Consultants vote on all key decisions in the organisation, including our donation to a key social cause every year.

Diverse brains are better

We’re always working to improve the diversity of our collective and create an inclusive space where the talent of people from underrepresented groups can be amplified.

Brains with heart

Every year, some of our profits go to a cause that we believe is actively supporting one of the 17 UN SDG’s, global or local.

We work with positive companies

We’re not purely designed for for purpose-driven organisations, but we avoid work that we think has a direct, negative impact on society.

A community, not a network.

Being part of Extra Brain is having team, without losing your independence.

Monthly collective activities ensure team relationships flourish, knowledge is shared and everyone enjoys their involvement.

A few common questions

We love questions, especially difficult ones.

What exactly does Extra Brain offer?

Extra Brain provides on-demand access to a close collective of skilled coaches, consultants and advisors who help first time founders in SMEs to make progress against their most pressing problems, and your most exciting opportunities.

How does Extra Brain differ from other consultancies or working with an individual consultant?

Our approach, Founder's Counsel is fundamentally different. Our triage team help founders to unpick the problem from a discipline neutral standpoint. We listen to learn, and respond to the emotional and functional needs of the founder and business. Then, we help you establish the priorities, and break work into manageable chunks - helping you to fix the urgent and solve the underlying.

Can Extra Brain help with short-term projects?

Any of our experts can deliver short term projects, but we are most effective when we build trusted peer relationships with the founders and team and help them evolve in a timeframe that suits their style and goals.

How do I get started with Extra Brain?

To begin, simply describe your business challenge or task to Extra Brain. The triage team will connect your needs with the right brilliant brains to help you breakthrough Founder's Block. If you want to dip your toe in and test the water for a super affordable monthly fee, Founder's Circle is the perfect place to start.

Can I scale up or down, or change, my use of Extra Brain's services?

Yes, one of Extra Brain's key features is flexibility. You can adjust the level of support you receive based on your current needs, making it ideal for growing businesses.

How does Extra Brain ensure the quality of their talent?

Extra Brain has a careful selection and due diligence process for our collective, including buddying with one of our Board for each new Brain's first project. We only grow by 8-10 consultants a year, forcing us to be highly selective at each stage.
